About Chandal

With a decade of digital marketing experience, I’ve created content strategies for both the biggest and sometimes most unexpected markets. I contribute to some of the highest authority marketing publications, am a three-time Search Engine Land Award nominee and was recently listed as one of the top female marketers to follow

I worked as the Lead Content Strategist at a fast-paced digital marketing agency, before going in-house at a SaaS company. There I was promoted from Content Marketing Manager to Content Marketing Director within a year. It was in this role that I graduated from monthly outreach and social media deliverables for clients, to conceiving, executing and reporting on lasting multi-channel, multi-stakeholder campaigns.

My role as Content Director was very involved. I was primarily responsible for pitching strategy, overseeing production on time and on budget, managing team members, ensuring all quality-standards were adhered to, and executing campaigns by coordinating publishing, lead nurturing, and reporting. Eventually this SaaS company was acquired while I was in this role.

Here’s a few of my career highlights:
* Developed content strategies for B2B and B2C clients on a local and national scale
*Authored 100+ online publications
*Prepared content marketing workshops for groups of startup businesses in Concordia University’s District 3 Innovation Center
*Experience leading projects in all parts of the funnel, from event management to customer journey
*Known to double organic traffic for SaaS-based markets
*Host and panel moderator of the SEMPO Canada convention on native ads at Google Montreal

Through all of these professional experiences I not only learned keyword research, I taught it. I’ve created site structure and sitemaps for large and small websites, some transactional, others informational. I’ve written engaging copy for everything from data-driven field guides, to CEO speeches, and of course title tags, meta descriptions, and even customer journeys. My passion comes alive when I can improve content deliverables, according to the current client or company’s given editorial guidelines and unique tone and voice. I have an alien-like ability to rework and improve written submissions, and I won’t publish content that I wouldn't read myself, or personally put my name on.

My diverse background in Environmental Studies, Technology, and Marketing demonstrates the variety of roles I’ve been successful in. Before I began my career in marketing I was awarded by Carleton University for research in Urban Studies, I contributed the opening chapter to an Industrial Design book now taught inside University classrooms, I presented Canadian environmental auditing to the Chinese Federal and Provincial government, and I’ve participated in multi-year international research reports for Canada’s Federal government.
